The installation instructions are different depending on the format of your certificate.
Multicert sells certificates in different formats:
Remote format
The Digital Certificate in Remote format is a certificate that does not require any type of physical device (hardware) to be used.
In digital certificates with this format, the private and public key are in the Cloud and the certificate can be accessed through your Client Account.
Multicert has launched a free application, Multicert ID, which allows you to use professional remote certificates to sign pdf documents on your Android or iOS mobile phone.
If you want to use it on a Windows computer, you can use the free Multicert Remote Sign software.
Remote certificates can also be used in other environments through integration.
This format has all the benefits associated with the legal and evidentiary value, as well as the security, of qualified certificates, raising the strong authentication and electronic signature processes to a new level of dematerialization and mobility.
Token or Smartcard format
Secure cryptographic devices (USB token or smartcard) require the installation of an application, the SafeNet Authentication Client (SAC), to be detected by your computer.
The models currently marketed by Multicert are:
- tokens - eToken 5110CC
- smartcards - IDPrime 940B

E-mail format
The certificates provided by E-mail are SSL certificates or PSD2 certificates, in which it is necessary to first generate a CSR (Certificate Signing Request)
