What is mNext
The mNext app is a local service that runs on mTrust user's computers.
This service allows the detection of cryptographic devices as tokens, SmartCards and Citizen Cards connected to this computer.
The mTrust Signature process uses this service.
mNext can be used on several browsers as Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Mozilla Firefox. The Safari browser can´t be used on mNext.
mNext usage Requirements

mNext Installation
If the service mNext isn't detected during an mTrust signature process the following message will be presented. This allows you to download the installation bundle.
If you haven't installed mNext you must press the Download mNext link.
f you have already installed mNext but it isn't running on you computer please start it trough it's shortcut.
The mNext installation process it's different from Operation System. Please check the sections above regarding your Operating System:
Install mNext on Windows
After downloading and running the mNext installer you'll see this window.
Click Next to proceed
Please read the Licence Agreement and click I Agree. Then click Next to proceed.
Click Next to Proceed.
Please Confirm that you want to continue with the installation pressing Next.
Then you'll be asked to Allow that this app makes changes to your device and you must press Yes to proceed.
After the message “Installation Complete" you must press Close and search for the mNext app on your computer.
Run the mNext app clicking twice on the icon.
Next time you'll start your computer the app will start automatically on reboot.

Install mNext in MacOS
After downloading the mNext installer run it and drag the icon to the Applications folder.

Testing mNext
After testing mNext on mTrust you must click on the mNext icon and choose the option Test mNext.
By pressing “Test mNext” it's made a request to associate a browser to the à app (only at the first time) and will be presented the page to test the connectivity of the app and the cryptographic device.
The test consists on two phases:
- Identification of the Token/SmartCard inserted:
- The app looks for cryptographic devices connected to the computer (for example(smartcards or usb tokens).
- Selection of user certificates inside the cryptographic device
- The user must choose the certificate that will be use on the signature test.
- OBS:
- The citizen card will only asks for the PIN on the signature step.
- the Safenet SmartCard can ask the PIN before it shows the certificates to choose on the signature test.
- OBS:
- The user must choose the certificate that will be use on the signature test.
For example when using the Citizen Card the user must choose the device identified with the same name “Cartão de Cidadão PT eID” and press Continue:
The certificates of the Citizen Card (Autentication and Signature) will be shown. To make the Signature test the user must choose the signature certificate.
