Multicert's Qualified certificates are issued for 3 years, however, it is possible to opt for purchase for 1, 2, or 3 years.
If you choose to purchase for 1 or 2 years, at the end of the paid validity, you can make the payment for the remaining validity of the Certificate.
Simplified Renewal consists of being able to use the Certificate until the end of its validity without the need to submit additional documentation.
There are two ways to perform Simplified Renewal:
- Through your Customer Area, by logging in here or creating the Customer Area; or
- Accessing the simplified renewal page, where it is necessary:
- to have the Safenet driver installed on your computer (learn how here), and
- to have your token or smartcard inserted, so that the certificate can be read.
Then, by selecting the validity period, the payment details will appear via Multibanco reference.
As the expiration date of the Certificate's paid validity approaches, Multicert sends emails with renewal instructions. The first email is sent 45 days in advance, the second 30 days in advance, and the third 15 days in advance.
On the renewal date, if you have not requested Simplified Renewal and paid for it, the Certificate is Suspended. The Certificate remains in this state for 30 days, still giving an opportunity to return to Active status by paying for the renewal.
At the end of the 30 days after the renewal deadline, the Certificate is Revoked.
